The link between stress and high blood pressure is well documented. It is useful to blame stress for our health issues, because it alleviates the responsibility of dealing with it and being proactive. Some self-reflection is required to ascertain how much stress is created by NOT being proactive and making lifestyle and dietary changes to help your body cope with both long term and short term stress. It is comparable to racing a car without adding the right kind of ‘turbo’ fuel to help your vehicle perform. If we expect our bodies to cope under difficult circumstances and not give it the ingredients to do so, then we cannot be surprised if our overall performance is poor. Pay attention to your food intake, not only because you want to lose weight if you are overweight, or reduce your glucose levels if you suffer from diabetes, but because you want YOUR body to manage and perform with excellence!
